About this event

This mini-exhibition commemorates the entry into the castle of Lord Toshinaga Maeda, the founder of Takaoka, by displaying maps and illustrations of Takaoka Castle and Kojo Park from the collection of the Takaoka City Museum. Takaoka Castle was built by Toshinaga Maeda, the second head of the Kaga Maeda family, who entered the castle on September 13, Keicho 14 (1609). Since the early Meiji period, the castle ruins have been developed as a park and cherished by citizens. In recent years, landscape restoration projects through tree thinning have progressed, enhancing its charm as a castle site. In conjunction with this Lord Toshinaga Entry Commemoration 'Takaoka Castle Wakuwaku Festival', this exhibition introduces the history and appeal of Takaoka Castle and Kojo Park through rare pictorial maps.
