A delightful stage performance packed with gags, planned by local citizens and centered on themes of dreams, courage, and adventure, has arrived again this year! This year's program is an original theater company adaptation of "Warashibe Choja" (The Straw Millionaire). When hearing "Warashibe Choja," most people have probably heard of this old folktale at least once, but it features a unique arrangement exclusive to Maruhen Gekidan. Please enjoy this stage full of laughter and surprises at the venue, discovering how the items exchanged in the story and the people the protagonist meets will unfold, and what kind of ending awaits. Maruhen Gekidan's predecessor was Suetomo Gekidan, which was active in Suetomo, Oyabe City. Formed to liven up Oyabe City's event, the Maruhen Festival, its members span a wide age range from elementary school students to people in their 50s, with a total staff of over 50 including actors. From scriptwriting, directing, costumes, large props, to stage setup, they prepare everything themselves and put on one performance a year. Each time, they stage a very entertaining play incorporating plenty of gags, parodies, local jokes, as well as musical elements like singing and dancing.
