47th Kuchinashi-ki: Gathering in Memory of Shigeharu Nakano

The 47th Kuchinashi Memorial Gathering to Remember Shigeharu Nakano will be held in Sakai City, Fukui Prefecture. Starting this year, the ceremony and lecture will take place at the Takamuku Community Center. The first part will consist of a ceremony from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM, featuring floral tributes of ground cherries (hoozuki) and poetry recitations. The second part, from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM, will be a commemorative lecture titled "Shigeharu Nakano as Told by Archival Materials: Centering on Museum Collections." Featuring Yoko Iwata, a curator at the Fukui Prefectural Hometown Literature Museum, the lecture will examine handwritten manuscripts and diaries of Nakano and closely associated authors such as Kyuya Fukada and Tatsuji Miyoshi from the Fukui-related literary archives collected since the museum's opening in 2015, shedding light on Nakano's works and persona through these materials. While parking is available at the Takamuku Community Center venue, spaces are limited, so carpooling or using public transportation is recommended. Shuttle vehicles will also run regularly between Maruoka Library, Takamuku Community Center, and the site of Nakano's birthplace.
