Japanese name:冨士御室浅間神社秋季大祭(神輿祭)

About this event
The autumn annual festival held at Fuji Omuro Sengen Shrine, enshrined on the shores of Lake Kawaguchi as the oldest shrine on Mount Fuji, originated as a celebration of Shinra Saburo Yoshimitsu's victory in the Gosannen War, an ancestor of the Kai Genji clan. In addition to the Toyosaka dance dedication, a procession of children in traditional attire (chigo) also parades, coloring the lakeside in early autumn. This festival deeply reflects the history and traditions of the region, praying for regional prosperity and safety through time-honored rituals and ceremonies. In particular, the chigo procession is warmly watched over by local residents and worshippers as a symbol of prayers for the healthy growth of children. The Toyosaka dance is a sacred kagura dance praying for bountiful harvests, dedicated in a sacred atmosphere. In the crisp early autumn air, the sound of drums and Shinto norito prayers echoing by the lake deeply move visitors. At the climax of the festival, portable shrines (mikoshi) parade through the area, creating an energetic spectacle. Going beyond a simple traditional event, this festival serves as an important occasion to deepen the bonds of the local community and pass down culture to the next generation.
