Held in Miyota Town, Nagano Prefecture, 'Asama International Photo Festival 2026 PHOTO MIYOTA' is organized as an art photography festival with the cultural complex 'MMoP' as its main venue. For approximately two months from August 1 to September 27, 2026, unique works by photographers from around the world will be brought together under one roof. This year's exhibition theme is 'After the Image.' Through large-scale outdoor displays unique to an open-air photography festival and distinctive exhibition methods taking advantage of the expansive grounds, visitors can enjoy works presented indoors and outdoors with all five senses while strolling through the highland nature. In addition to the main venue MMoP, exhibition sites will be set up across the town—including the Miyota Town Library, 'Ecole Miyota' with the annexed Asama Jomon Museum, coworking space 'Gokalab,' and public halls—providing a program with high walkability. In addition to photographs by artists, works created by Miyota-based creators conveying the lives of residents and the town's atmosphere will also be exhibited. Focusing on photographs as entities that continue to change meaning, amplify, and be updated within the time 'after' they are taken, it provides an experience that each viewer takes away, altering their subsequent thinking and perspectives. On weekends, workshops, photography classes, hands-on events introducing the joy of photography, and market events offering Nagano-style food and crafts will also be held.
