About this event

Held in Takamori Town, Nagano Prefecture, the '52nd All Japan Tenryu River Canoe Competition' is a downriver racing festival where canoe enthusiasts from all over Japan gather against the backdrop of the magnificent nature of Southern Shinshu. Set on one of Japan's premier long courses with a total length of approximately 11 km, athletes paddle vigorously down the river to determine the 'strongest' paddler in Japan. This tournament tests not only skill but also the 'strength' to overcome a grueling course, making it a thrilling experience for spectators as well. The competition categories are diverse, including K1, playboat, SK1, C, folding kayak, ducky/raft boat, packraft, and SUP, allowing visitors to enjoy various styles of canoeing. On the day of the event, in addition to the races, fun events organized in cooperation with the Young Men's Division of the Takamori Town Chamber of Commerce and Industry and food truck stalls are scheduled, allowing visitors to fully enjoy both spectating and gourmet food at the same time. Please come and experience the lively canoe competition in Takamori Town, which has also been selected as the canoe venue for the 2028 Shinshu Yamanami National Sports Festival.
