Salt Road West Route Thru-Hike

About this event

This tour traverses Ishizaka-goe, Tenjindou-goe, and Oami-touge Pass, which can be called the core sections of the Salt Road. It is an authentic trail running race set on the "Salt Road," a historic ancient trail connecting Echigo and Shinshu. Three courses are offered: an 80 km round-trip course between Otari Village and Itoigawa City, a 42 km course starting from Itoigawa City, and a 7 km course that children can also enjoy. While following nature-rich courses where autumn foliage can be enjoyed, participants inherit the wisdom and teachings of predecessors in modern times and experience coexistence with nature. The time limits are 24 hours for the 80 km course, 9 hours for the 40 km course, and 4 hours for the 7 km course. An eve-of-race festival and post-finish bath services are also planned, offering a program to fully enjoy Otari Village in autumn.
