About this event
Otari Bridges and Major Landslide Tour, held in Otari Village, Nagano Prefecture, is an infrastructure and geo-tour that visits characteristic bridges and major landslide sites in the village. It explains disaster mechanisms from various perspectives, including landslide sites, bridges, and erosion control facilities that protect daily life. You can observe up close the dynamic scenery unique to Otari Village and the civil engineering technology supporting it, such as the Former Kokukaibashi Bridge visited with special permission, catchment wells located in the Shimizu Mountain landslide area, the Manaitayama Major Landslide (slope protection work), and Kanayabashi Bridge (Hiedayama Major Landslide). A booklet of approximately 60 pages will also be distributed, making it a valuable experience to deeply understand the relationship between the forces of nature and human activities while touching upon history and geology. Lunch is included, and transportation will be by microbus.
