Japanese name:甲子秋まつり
📅 Sat, Oct 17, 2026 - Sun, Oct 18, 2026
About this event
The "Kinoene Autumn Festival" held in Fuji City, Shizuoka Prefecture, is said to have originated in 1926 (Taisho 15) when residents visited Izumo Taisha to pray for the development of the town and received a divided spirit of Okuninushi-no-Mikoto to establish Kinoene Shrine. Held by turning Fuji Honcho Street into a pedestrian zone, it is a bustling festival packed with highlights such as parades of festival floats (yatai) and drum competitions. In particular, the sight of floats from each district gathering and competing is powerful, and visitors can enjoy dynamic festival music (ohayashi) performed by traditional masters as well as fresh performances by children who are carrying on the tradition. The event is crowded with many people, featuring stalls and various activities.
