A new summer festival originating from Yaizu will be held at Kiyomida Park on Saturday, August 22, and Sunday, August 23, 2026. This event provides a nostalgic yet fresh summer experience integrating "BONDANCE," which fuses Bon Odori dance and DJs, traditional festival stalls (ennichi), and an enchanting lantern night. A yagura tower equipped with a DJ booth will appear at the venue, creating a night that everyone across generations can enjoy. Additionally, the festival market by dedicated artisans from across Japan will feature kendama, shooting galleries, yo-yo fishing, cotton candy, shaved ice, and more. Furthermore, there will be the "YOKOCHO" experience zone exploring vocabulary and culture from the Showa to Reiwa eras, as well as a rich lineup of food and drinks from popular shops gathered from all over Japan. For the festival finale, countless Japanese Bon lanterns and chochin lanterns will illuminate the night sky, concluding on the final day with a special production called "OKURIBI." This inaugural event is planned on a scale of about 10,000 attendees, aiming to grow with the city and develop into a festival known throughout the Tokai region and nationwide in the future. Vendor applicants to create this new Bon festival together are also being sought, promising a night where shops sharing special items and passion gather.
