About this event

An autumn tradition in Fukuroi City, Shizuoka Prefecture, boasting nearly 200 years of history, the 'Fukuroi Festival' is held annually on the second Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of October (October 9 (Fri) to 11 (Sun), 2026). Neighborhoods in central Fukuroi City bring out their respective floats for parading and processions. The festival floats are two-wheeled yatai carrying doll figures, pulled in Enshu's unique style of advancing while swaying up, down, left, and right. The biggest highlight is the 'Joint Procession of 20 Neighborhood Floats,' which adds 5 surrounding neighborhoods to the original 15 neighborhoods, taking place from 18:00 on Saturday. In addition, the 'tegibase' (pole clashing when floats pass each other) is also one of the exciting moments. Notable events include the Joint Neighborhood Float Procession (9th from 13:00), the 15 Neighborhood Floats Bridge Crossing (10th from 12:00), the 20 Neighborhood Floats Procession and Bridge Crossing (10th from 18:00 to 19:30), the 7 Neighborhood Joint Rice Cake Tossing (11th from 18:50), and the 8 Neighborhood Joint Finale Ceremony (11th from 20:00). Admission is free.
