About this event
Hokaiji Temple is considered one of Japan's Three Great Yakushi Temples, said to have been founded in 668 by Master Taishi Dogyo. It is a prayer temple in Yawata that has continued its history for over 1,350 years, adhering to the doctrines of the Tendai sect whose head temple is Hieizan Enryakuji Temple, and maintained as a collective prayer temple representing the will of the neighboring districts. The Yakushi Grand Festival is held every year on November 8th.
