SpoGOMI Competition in Izumiotsu 2026

About this event

"SpoGOMI in Izumiotsu 2026" is a new type of sports event where participants compete for points based on the amount and types of trash collected while having fun learning about environmental issues. By learning about marine litter and microplastic issues, it provides an opportunity to think together through litter-picking activities about what we can do to restore clean seas. Teams combine their efforts to collect trash within a specified area in a time limit, competing for points on quantity and quality. It is the Earth's kindest sport that anyone from children to adults can participate in regardless of age. On the day of the competition, special programs will also be held, including an electric compactor truck display by Morita Econos, scrap material craft and bamboo play activities by the parenting circle Nijumaru, and a special on-site sale of winning entries from the Eco Recipe No.1 Grand Prix 2026 by Osaka College of Culinary Arts (free tastings available for competition participants). Participation is free, but participants must cover their own travel expenses. The organizer covers volunteer insurance for all participants.
