📅 Tue, Aug 18, 2026 - Thu, Aug 20, 2026
About this event
An event exhibiting and awarding sagiso (white egret orchids) cultivated by citizen orchid enthusiasts, as well as elementary and junior high schools. Visitors can admire the beautiful sagiso, which evoke the image of a flying white egret, the official city bird from which Shirasagi Castle (Himeji Castle) derived its name. Entries are accepted across four divisions: General Division, First-Time Exhibitor Division, School Division, and Himeji Flower Bank Division. In each division, honors such as the Himeji Mayor's Award, Himeji City Council Chairperson's Award, Kobe Shimbun Award, Himeji City Urban Development Promotion Organization Chairperson's Award, Excellence Awards, and Encouragement Awards are presented. Specifically, the First-Time Exhibitor Division targets works from first-time applicants or those who have not exhibited in the past 5 years. The School Division displays sagiso grown on a school-unit basis. The Himeji Flower Bank Division features sagiso cultivated by members of the Himeji Flower Bank. Through the display of these beautiful sagiso, the event aims to heighten citizens' interest in sagiso and promote urban greening.
