Miyajima Candle Festival: Manto-e

About this event

Also known as the "Miyajima Candle Festival," this event is held with prayers for memorial tribute and world peace. Candles and lanterns offered as memorial offerings are lit throughout the precinct of Daisho-in Temple, enveloping the grounds in a fantastical atmosphere. Candles also illuminate the 98 stone steps extending past Daisho-in's temple gate (sanmon), captivating visitors with their enchanting spectacle. With mini-concerts also held, it is a festival filled with wishes for peace.
