Operation Helping Hand in Tokano 2026

About this event

Held in Sakawa Town, Kochi Prefecture, "Operation Helping Hand in Tokano 2026" is a community support volunteer event. To assist local residents who have difficulty handling daily chores due to aging, living alone, or dementia, participants perform light tasks such as window cleaning, weeding gardens, and mowing grass. This activity fosters a spirit of mutual support among neighborhood residents, and also connects to mutual aid activities of voluntary disaster prevention organizations in preparation for the anticipated Nankai Trough earthquake. Participants gather at the Village Activity Center Aozora, receive an explanation of the project and do warm-up exercises, and then depart to the sites in separate teams. After the work is completed, warm handmade light meals (onigiri rice balls and tonjiru pork miso soup) made by volunteers are provided, and an exchange of opinions and social gathering are also scheduled. It will be a valuable opportunity to feel warm connections through interaction with local residents.
