About this event

This is a large-scale structure-moving event held for the first time in 111 years to return the Hirosaki Castle keep, which had been moved from the Honmaru for stone wall repairs, back to its original position. The event is publicly recruiting general participants to experience pulling and moving the approximately 400-ton castle keep with ropes. During the event period, along with the keep-pulling experience, a wide variety of Hirosaki's unique contents will be offered across the entire Hirosaki Park, including Japanese boat rides, canoeing experiences, riddle-solving quiz rallies, Tsugaru lacquerware polishing workshops, and apple juice sales. At the opening ceremony on the night of Friday, August 21, a special show combining projection mapping onto the castle keep, a drone show, and fireworks will unfold, allowing visitors to enjoy a magical night at Hirosaki Castle. Furthermore, there is a rich lineup of programs for children and adults alike, including a preview of the inner moat set up inside the keep, keep-pulling simulation photo spots, and the All Japan Tug-of-War Competition for Hirosaki Castle.
