About this event
"Autumn Fujiwara Festival," which commemorates the glory of the Oshu Fujiwara clan, is a traditional event held every May and November in Hiraizumi Town, Iwate Prefecture. During the autumn period, a diverse range of events is scheduled, including a children's procession (Chigo Gyoretsu), Shimai (Noh dance) and Utai (chanting) dedications at Chuson-ji Temple, and the performance of "Ennen no Mai" (Dances of Longevity), an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property, at Motsu-ji Temple. In addition, local performing arts such as Shishi Odori (deer dance) and Kagura can also be enjoyed on the grounds of Chuson-ji and Motsu-ji temples, providing a valuable opportunity to experience the history and culture of Hiraizumi.
