About this event
"It Might Be a Shinsuke Yoshitake Exhibition," the first large-scale solo exhibition by picture book author Shinsuke Yoshitake, will be held at The Museum of Modern Art, Ibaraki. This exhibition displays over 400 items, including small sketches that are the source of the author's inspiration, original picture book drawings, and cherished personal collections, offering a peek into Yoshitake's "mind." Approximately 2,500 reproduction sketches that he drew daily prior to his debut as a picture book author will be unveiled all at once, and numerous original drawings and concept sketches from around 20 popular picture books, including "It Might Be an Apple" (Ringo Kamoshirenai), will be introduced. In addition, interactive attractions where visitors can experience the world of picture books will appear, allowing both adults and children to move their bodies and minds and have fun. The exhibition also features the three-dimensional "Kaburimono Series" created during his student days and rare personal collections from Yoshitake, who has also worked as an illustrator and sculptor, exploring the roots of his unique thinking. At the venue, an experiential play area using approximately 10,000 paper cups called "It Might Be Paper Cup Hell" (Kami-coppu Jigoku Kamoshirenai) will be available free of charge, where visitors can enjoy creating their own "hell." Original photo spots exclusive to the Ibaraki venue will also be installed.
