📅 Mon, Nov 9, 2026 - Tue, Nov 10, 2026
About this event
The Annual Grand Festival held at Omae Shrine, enshrined in Moka City, Tochigi Prefecture, is a historic festival praying for national peace, the prosperity of the Imperial Family, the safety of parishioners, and bountiful grain harvests. During the festival, 'Omae Shrine Dai-daikagura,' designated as a National Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property, is dedicated. This kagura is a traditional performing art handed down from ancient times, and its solemn and gorgeous dance captivates spectators. In addition, as one of the highlights of the festival, 'Fukumaki' (fortune scattering) to invite good luck is conducted, and many people gather to receive good fortune. With approximately 1,000 worshippers visiting each year, this festival provides a valuable opportunity to experience community-rooted traditional culture.
