About this event
The 20th Shibukawa City Tachibana Bamboo Village Festival will be held on Saturday, October 24 and Sunday, October 25, 2026 (Reiwa 8). Visitors can enjoy a variety of events themed around bamboo, a specialty of the Kitatachibana district. In the Bamboo Craft Exhibition, bamboo craftworks gathered from across the prefecture will be displayed. In the Pageant of Bamboo and Light, attendees can enjoy a magical collaboration of bamboo and lights, featuring displays such as 'Shining Autumn Leaves' designed by the Kitatachibana Junior High School Art Club and glowing crafts made by elementary school students. In the World of Bamboo Music, bamboo taiko drum performances and the Kitatachibana District Yagibushi Competition will be held concurrently, alongside presentations by the bamboo drum class and kamishibai (picture-story shows) by the Kitatachibana Furusato Guide Association. Furthermore, during the tasting of local bamboo shoot cuisine, dishes made with bamboo shoots will be distributed for free, along with free giveaways of bamboo charcoal made from Kitatachibana bamboo. During the Pageant of Bamboo and Light, free giveaways of saplings, grilled meat, popcorn, and glowing bracelets (for junior high school students and younger) as well as sales of tonjiru (pork miso soup) will take place.
