About this event
Held in Sayama City, Saitama Prefecture, the 37th Sayama Grand Tea Ceremony is an annual autumn event where you can experience the culture of Sayama tea, one of Japan's three famous teas. The venue is the lush, green Emi Park Sayama Inariyama (formerly Saitama Prefectural Sayama Inariyama Park), where visitors can casually enjoy authentic tea culture across its expansive grounds. On the day of the event, 11 open-air tea ceremony stations (nodate) spanning various tea schools will be held, offering a luxurious time away from everyday life as you enjoy a cup of tea under the blue sky. With a welcoming atmosphere suitable for families and beginners who rarely experience tea ceremonies, guests can fully savor the rich aroma and flavor of Sayama tea. Tea ceremony tickets are 700 yen per seat and have been on sale since Monday, August 17 at Sayama City Hall counters and online, with a limited number of same-day tickets also available. Besides the tea ceremony, a wide range of attractions is scheduled, including flower arrangement (ikebana) exhibitions, sales of Sayama tea and Japanese sweets, a regional specialty fair from Tsunan Town in Niigata Prefecture, hand-rolling tea demonstrations, and traditional Sankyoku musical performances, offering diverse cultural experiences throughout the day.
