On Monday (public holiday), October 12, 2026, the 'Soka Theme Park Sports Day' will be held at Matsubara Ayasegawa Park in Soka City. The event runs from 10:00 to 14:30, with registration opening at 9:00. It is hosted by Soka City and co-hosted by the Soka City Sports Association and the Soka Chamber of Commerce and Industry Youth Division. Admission is free, and participation is open not only to Soka residents but also to people from other areas such as Yashio City. In addition to classic games like tug-of-war and tamaire (beanbag toss), a Soka-style senbei (rice cracker) eating race will be held. In this race, participants aim for the goal by grabbing a string-suspended rice cracker with only their mouth without using hands, which is sure to excite watching families. In addition, 7 unique events that are not decided by speed alone are prepared, including a pinecone race carrying a pinecone on a spoon and the Matsunamiki Time Attack aiming to run 50 meters in exactly 15 seconds. Since these are open-participation events requiring no advance application, it will be a day that families can easily drop by and enjoy. Craft-making workshops and food truck stalls are also scheduled at the venue.
