Ashigakubo Icicles Volunteer Tour: With Salt-Grilled River Fish & Icicle Ticket Present!

This tour allows participants to help prepare for the 2027 edition of "Ashigakubo Icicles," a famous winter sightseeing spot in the Chichibu area. Organized as part of regional revitalization, you can experience the behind-the-scenes work of creating the icicles built through the efforts of volunteer staff. On the tour, participants make bamboo balls that decorate the walking path leading to the venue and experience wood-splitting for firewood, which is the fuel for the rocket stoves essential to the icicles. In addition, you can enjoy a stroll through the icicle preparation area with detailed explanations from staff, and light meals using local ingredients (such as freshly harvested rice and salt-grilled river fish). Furthermore, the tour includes a ticket for the Ashigakubo Icicles to be held next year and an original lantern gift. While there are no icicles on the day of the event, it is a valuable opportunity to feel firsthand the process of how icicles are formed and contribute to the local community. Please participate in comfortable clothes and walking shoes.
