Art Week Tokyo 2026 is an annual celebration introducing the creativity and diversity of Tokyo's contemporary art scene to audiences in Japan and abroad. In 2026, a record-breaking 55 museums and galleries will participate, with events held at various locations across Tokyo. As a decentralized event without a single main venue, it features exhibitions at participating facilities alongside programs such as talk sessions, tours, and dedicated pop-up bars. Venues are connected by the free, hop-on hop-off shuttle bus "AWT BUS" for easy access. Of particular note is the refreshed "AWT FOCUS" program in collaboration with the Vienna-based gallery festival "curated by," where 10 galleries and art spaces across Tokyo invite curators from Japan and abroad to host 10 exhibitions. The video program "AWT VIDEO" and the pop-up bar "AWT BAR"—where visitors can enjoy food by up-and-coming chefs, cocktails by artists, and performances—will also make appearances. With symposiums, online talks, and art educational programs designed for everyone from beginners to art enthusiasts, it provides a valuable opportunity to deeply experience Tokyo's contemporary art scene.
