'The Little Mermaid' Tennoz Floating Opera 2026

About this event

On a special floating stage on the Tennoz Canal, Tennoz's first floating opera 'The Little Mermaid' will be performed. Based on Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale 'The Little Mermaid,' this 60-minute original opera reconstructs Dvorak's opera 'Rusalka.' With the stage moved to the Tennoz Canal, the sparkle of the water surface and the expansive sky transform under lighting into the seabed and the night view of a futuristic city. Over 3 days, this production elevates the night in Tennoz—a waterfront and arts district—into a high-quality waterside space with enchanting singing voices and contemporary dance. Five leading, talented Japanese performers who star in major opera productions will appear as the main cast.
