6th Ota Ward Traditional Crafts Exhibition
Japanese name:第六回大田区伝統工芸展
📅 Sat, Sep 5, 2026 - Sun, Sep 6, 2026
About this event
Under the theme of 'Experience the Handiwork of Ota!', an event featuring demonstrations, exhibition sales, and workshops will be held to bring visitors closer to the traditional crafts of Ota Ward. Approximately 20 artisans will give demonstrations at their booths, including master traditional craftspeople certified by Ota Ward. It is a rare opportunity to observe production processes up close that can usually only be seen in workshops. This year, with the tagline 'Tradition Continues to Evolve Today,' new craft works and collaborative pieces will be unveiled, showcasing how inherited techniques evolve with modern sensibilities. In addition, community ties are fostered through appealing Ota-exclusive content, such as an autograph session by Ota resident calligrapher Shoko Kanazawa and appearances by Hanepyon, the official character of Ota Ward. Admission is free, but separate participation fees apply for workshops and the tea ceremony. A free play area for children (origami and wooden scrap toys) is also available.
