About this event

The "Nakano Hikawa Shrine Annual Grand Festival," which fills autumn in Nakano with enthusiasm, will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2026. Handed down as the general tutelary shrine of the former Nakano Village, more than 20 mikoshi from around 20 neighborhood associations parade through the streets during this festival, temporarily transforming Ome Kaido and Nakano-dori into festival stages. Dedicated performance arts such as Kyogen and singing competitions will be presented at the Kagura-den stage, offering a full day to experience firsthand the community-wide passion. Inside the shrine precincts, family-friendly traditional festival games like goldfish scooping, yo-yo fishing, and shooting galleries, along with stall delicacies such as yakisoba and takoyaki, will be lined up. In the evening, several mikoshi make their return into the shrine (miyairi), bringing the festival to its climax. It is also possible to participate as a bearer.
