Honjuku District Bon Odori Festival

About this event

A community-rooted traditional Bon Odori festival held in the schoolyard of Honjuku Elementary School in Musashino City, Tokyo. Local residents across generations gather around the yagura scaffold set up in the center of the schoolyard to enjoy a summer evening together. Food stalls and mock shops will also be set up at the venue, making it a summer tradition in the Kichijoji Higashicho area where anyone from children to adults can easily drop by. With a history of having once been an event organized by the Honjuku Elementary School PTA, it has firmly taken root as a local traditional event. Scheduled to mark its 27th edition in Reiwa 8 (2026), its warm, traditional community atmosphere is part of its charm.
