12th Kichijoji Goen Jizo: Jizo Bon Fair

The annual Jizo Bon Fair at Kichijoji Jizo Building will be held this year in an expanded version that also utilizes the 2nd Jizo Building. Visitors can enjoy praying to Jizo and taking part in 'juzu-mawashi' (giant rosary turning), a rare practice in the Kanto region where a giant 12-meter-circumference rosary is passed around to wish for a year of health and safety. Children who participate in the memorial service will receive an assortment of traditional cheap sweets (dagashi) and two fair game tickets as a present. At the fair, various ticket-based games are prepared, including shooting games, bouncy ball and toy figurine scooping, senbon-kuji string lotteries, and performances by balloon artists. Food and drinks such as shaved ice, ice cream, and yakisoba can also be enjoyed. Balloon art by balloon artists can also be obtained with tickets, making it an event to spend an upgraded summer moment.
