About this event

Five Japanese and French musicians active on the front lines of the French and Japanese music scenes gather for a one-day summer music festival fully presenting the charm of chamber music. Featuring a special program that introduces works closely tied to France in various instrumentations, both performances will also showcase special arrangements played exclusively by these five musicians. Along with talks in French and Japanese, you can enjoy a warm and festive time that captures the authentic atmosphere as is.\n\n[Afternoon Concert] Starting at 14:00, "Festival: Centered on Composers from Normandy" features works by Satie, Fauré, Saint-Saëns, and Rouen-born composer Marcel Dupré, as well as the world premiere of a piece composed specifically for the performers by Marc Eychenne. Normandy, where Satie was born and raised, was a gathering place for artists frequently visited by Saint-Saëns and Fauré, where composers captivated by its beautiful scenery fostered a rich culture.\n\n[Evening Concert] Starting at 19:00, "German Romanticism and French Impressionism" presents a dialogue spanning centuries between the rich, nuanced tones of late 19th-century German masters such as Beethoven and Brahms and the luminous early 20th-century French music of Ravel and Milhaud. Exquisite masterpieces will be performed by a chamber ensemble of clarinet, violin, cello, and piano.
