Discover Together as Parent and Child! Aihara Walking Tour

Organized by the Machida City Tourism and Convention Association, "Discover Together as Parent and Child! Aihara Walking Tour" is a hands-on experience tour exploring the westernmost area of Machida City, which is rich in nature and history. Participants will meet at Aihara Station and stroll around the surrounding area on foot. The main event of the tour is a visit to Seisui-ji Temple, founded in 1624. At Seisui-ji Temple, members of the "Aihara History and Culture Club" will explain historical highlights, such as the three-leaf mallow crest indicating ties to the Tokugawa family. Guided by a local history expert, parents and children can walk and learn about Seisui-ji Temple, built in the late Edo period. The appeal of this tour lies in having subtle details pointed out that one might not otherwise notice, such as sculptures and the three-leaf mallow crest. It is a precious opportunity to see designated tangible cultural properties of the city with your own eyes and is also ideal for finding summer vacation research project topics. It will be held twice, in morning and afternoon sessions, with a capacity of 30 participants per session.
