Kaga Onsen-kyo Summer Evening Fireworks Festival in Katayamazu Onsen

This is a thrilling summer-cooling fireworks festival where large 1-shaku shells are launched night after night over Lake Shibayamagata in the heart of Katayamazu Onsen. Fireworks can be enjoyed alongside the night view of the hot spring town from the area between Yunomoto Park and Ukimido Pavilion, as well as from the opposite lakeshore. Relaxing and viewing them while soaking in a ryokan hot spring bath is also recommended. If entering the section between the floating pier and Ukimido Pavilion—where the fireworks can be seen up close—during the launch hours, a fireworks contribution fee of 300 yen is required, but free tickets are distributed to guests staying at Katayamazu Onsen ryokan. The festival is held every night during the period, though it may be cancelled in the event of rain or stormy weather. In addition, 'Ukiuki Ennichi' (Summer Fair) is scheduled to be held at Yunomoto Park from August 1 to 21, featuring food and game stalls. The fireworks reflecting on the lake surface look like flowers blooming on the water, creating an enchanting summer night.
