About this event

Held in Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture, "Enjoy with Born: Tachimachizuki Moon Viewing Evening 2026" is an event to enjoy various activities while admiring the "Tachimachizuki" (the rising moon two days after the full moon). On the day of the event, a vibrant atmosphere will be created with the Chikamatsu Wakuwaku Lecture reading the joruri play "Tenko," as well as food stalls and a market hosted by local organizations. Notable highlights include the free tasting corner for "Born" sake and a live concert by MIKAGE PROJECT. Master players of traditional Japanese instruments—including shakuhachi, Tsugaru shamisen, and 25-string koto—will perform folk songs rearranged with modern sensibilities to pass them down to the next generation. At night, a "Tachimachizuki" moonrise countdown will take place alongside an astronomical telescope observation session. The grand finale of the event will feature 340 fireworks launched to commemorate the 340th anniversary of the inauguration of Lord Matsudaira Masachika, the feudal lord of the Yoshie Domain. The event will proceed in light rain, but in case of heavy rain or strong winds, it will be postponed to Saturday, October 3. It will be a special night where you can enjoy the Tachimachizuki moon—evoking the historic sentiments of ancient Japan—along with music, gourmet food, and fireworks.
