Asamaster Cross Walk 2026

Set in the magnificent Mount Asama foothills spanning Nagano and Gunma Prefectures, the night trail event "Asamaster Cross Walk" will be held, taking participants on a midnight walk along forest roads and paths within Joshin'etsu-kogen National Park. On this day only, the "Yunomaru Takamine Combined Forest Road," which is normally closed at night, will be open to pedestrians; along the course point known as the "Galaxy Road" (Ginga Road), views spread out making it feel as if you are walking directly toward the galaxy. The "Galaxy Road" at an elevation of 2,000 meters is specially opened, allowing participants to enjoy an essential challenge of confronting themselves beneath the starry sky. Surrounded by rich nature and silence, participants will be able to experience an overwhelming sense of accomplishment. Two new courses have been established: the "VERTICAL ROUTE (18km)," which challenges elevation gain, and the iconic "SILVER WAY ROUTE (25km)," offering views of the starry sky. Along the route and at checkpoints, local specialties such as fresh highland vegetables and pork miso soup (tonjiru) from local Tomi and Komoro cities in Nagano Prefecture will be served, and wonderful participation prizes will be provided. It is a perfect opportunity to fully enjoy nocturnal nature that cannot be experienced in daily life and create special, unforgettable summer memories.
