About this event
On August 22, the anniversary of Toson Shimazaki's death, 'The 84th Toson Memorial Service: Gathering to Dedicate Flowers and Songs' will be held in the front garden of the Komoro City Toson Memorial Hall. This is a traditional event commemorating his achievements in Komoro, where Toson taught and produced many works. On the day, there will be a commemorative address by the Mayor of Komoro and a lecture entitled 'Regarding The Former Master and Flaubert' by Kensuke Kono, Professor Emeritus at Nihon University. In addition, haiku and tanka poetry offerings, choral singing by the Meiji Gakuin University Glee Club, grass flute playing by the Komoro Kusabue-kai, and musical performances by Kirara-kai will be presented, and finally, all attendees will offer flowers. The general public is also welcome to attend. In case of rain, it will be held at the Citizen Exchange Center 'Stella Hall.'
