About this event
The '32nd Kuru Fuku Maneki-neko (Beckoning Cat) Festival' will be held for 11 days from Saturday, September 19, to Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at Okage Yokocho in Ise City, Mie Prefecture. This year's theme is 'Inviting Good Fortune in Ise of Okihiki,' bringing together beckoning cat artists from all over the country to present contemporary artist exhibitions, live demonstrations, solo exhibitions, and sales of limited edition artworks and limited merchandise. The entirety of Okage Yokocho turns into a beckoning cat gallery, where you can enjoy encountering artworks while strolling. Special events are also planned, such as the 'Maneki-neko Daruma Plush Lottery' offering chances to win beckoning cat Daruma plushies, as well as the bestowal of auspicious fortune-inviting bells and a beckoning cat parade on 'Kuru Fuku Day' (September 29). Furthermore, hands-on craft workshops are available, including painting beckoning cats, crafting original beckoning cats, and making chopsticks related to Okihiki. During the period, limited-time special dishes and sweets themed after beckoning cats will also appear, complete with gifts of limited edition small plates. Themed around 'Okihiki,' which supports the Shikinen Sengu of Ise Jingu, these 11 days are wrapped in good fortune, expressing inherited culture and wishes for the future through the beckoning cat.
