Participant Recruitment for FY2026 Taki Folk Museum History and Culture Lecture

Taki Town is accepting participants for the Fiscal Year 2026 Taki Folk Museum History and Culture Lecture. Titled "Taki Merchants of Tohoku", this lecture features Hiroyuki Kaneko, Professor Emeritus at Akita University, as the guest lecturer. The lecture will focus on the history of Taki merchants centered around Oka, who, together with Izawa merchants, extensively expanded into Dewa Province (present-day Yamagata and Akita Prefectures). It will trace the footsteps of the people who were active during the period of notable expansion, particularly into Tsuruoka in Yamagata Prefecture and Yokote in Akita Prefecture. The venue is the 1st Training Room on the 2nd floor of Taki County Education Hall, located directly above the Taki Folk Museum. The capacity is 100 participants on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications can be made via web application form, phone, or in person at the Taki Folk Museum counter. The registration period runs from Friday, July 17, 2026 to Sunday, August 16, 2026.
