The Kamotsuba Shrine Autumn Grand Festival will be held from October 10 to October 11, 2026. This festival is a traditional autumn grand festival held at Kamotsuba Shrine. The highlight of the festival is an event held on October 10 titled "Running the Yamato Road" (Yamatoji o Kakeru), a marathon event known by that name. This marathon offers multiple courses of 2.4 km, 4.5 km, 6.2 km, 7.6 km, 11.9 km, and 13.3 km, allowing participants to choose according to their physical fitness and ability level. Specifically, suggested estimated times are provided according to the distances: 31 minutes for the 2.4 km course, no time measurement for the 4.5 km course, 26 minutes for the 6.2 km course, no time measurement for the 7.6 km course, no time measurement for the 11.9 km course, and no time measurement for the 13.3 km course. Various related events are also scheduled during the festival period. For example, a purification ritual ("oharai") conducted by Shinto priests of Kamotsuba Shrine will take place on October 11. Furthermore, "Autumn Mountain Walks" will be held on September 25 and from September 26 to 27, offering opportunities to enjoy nature. From July 1 to September 30, wind chimes are displayed as a "summer tradition," allowing visitors to enjoy their refreshing sounds. Through these events, participants can thoroughly experience the region's culture, nature, and festive vibrancy.
