About this event

Held in Arida City, Wakayama Prefecture, the '44th Kibun Festival Fireworks Display' is a summer festival named after the wealthy merchant Kinokuniya Bunzaemon, who sailed through stormy seas to transport mandarin oranges to Edo. Approximately 3,000 fireworks launched from both banks of the Arita River offer rich variety, including aerial fireworks and set fireworks, providing immense excitement as they dazzlingly illuminate the river surface. In 2026, commemorating the Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS) designation and the 70th anniversary of the municipal organization, the event will be expanded into a two-day celebration compared to typical years, featuring a drone show on the second day. The venue is around Arida City Hall, conveniently located a 5-minute walk from JR Minoshima Station. At the festival, visitors can also enjoy the Arida Mikan Marche, hands-on events, and stage performances.
