Japanese name:れきみん秋祭り2026
📅 Sat, Oct 24, 2026 - Tue, Nov 3, 2026
About this event
"Rekimin Autumn Festival 2026" is an event to enjoy the fusion of tradition and modernity, centered on demonstrations of traditional performing arts passed down in Miyagi Prefecture such as Taue Odori (rice planting dance), Shishi Odori (deer dance), Kenbai (sword dance), and Kagura, as well as live demonstrations by traditional Sendai craft artisans and performances of nostalgic kamishibai (picture-story shows). The venues are Tsutsujigaoka Park and Sendai City Museum of History and Folklore. Part 1 of this festival will be held on Saturday, October 24, and Part 2 will be held on Tuesday, November 3 (public holiday), which is Culture Day. In particular, on November 3, it will be held at the Sendai City Museum of History and Folklore from 10:00 to 16:00, and admission is free. This festival aims to introduce "intangible" folk and artistic culture such as traditional performing arts and artisans' techniques transmitted in the Tohoku region, and is held every year across two days: the fourth Saturday of October and Culture Day on November 3. There are no outdoor performances of performing arts on November 3, but various events are scheduled inside the building.
