About this event
The "52nd Takasaki Festival," held on Saturday, August 22 and Sunday, August 23, 2026 in Takasaki City, Gunma Prefecture, is a historic festival celebrating its 52nd year. In addition to a spectacular grand fireworks display that illuminates the midsummer night sky, the festival features unique attractions found nowhere else, such as "Giant Daruma Mikoshi" and "Creative Daruma Mikoshi." Another major highlight is the joint procession and performance of traditional festival floats (dashi) and portable shrines (mikoshi). On Saturday, August 22, a grand fireworks display launching approximately 15,000 fireworks will be held along the Karasugawa riverbed, brightly coloring the night sky. Furthermore, a "Grand Bon Odori Dance & Festival Song Festival" will be held to enliven the venue. The festival venues are planned around Ara-machi, Jiko-dori, Motenashi Square, and other areas, bustling with an annual turnout of around 950,000 people. At Motenashi Square, local restaurants will set up tent stalls, allowing visitors to savor local gourmet food while enjoying the festival atmosphere. The festival is guided by the philosophy of sharing the pride passed down through generations and the ambition to connect it to the next generation, creating it together.
