The "2026 Yoshii Furusato Gion Festival," held in Yoshii-machi, Takasaki City, is a traditional festival that marks the end of summer. It will be held on Saturday, August 29, at Keyaki Square (in front of Yoshii Cultural Center) from 13:30 to 20:00. The highlights of the festival are summer festival staples such as floats (dashi) and portable shrine (mikoshi) neighborhood parades, as well as Bon Odori dancing. Many events are planned for children to enjoy, and the children's festival (kodomo ennichi) is held in two parts, with priority admission available via advance application. In addition, a fun raffle that both adults and children can participate in will be held, with raffle tickets distributed at the Chamber of Commerce Youth Division booth. At the concurrently held "Performing Arts Presentation" hosted by the Yoshii Branch of the Takasaki City Cultural Association, various cultural groups will showcase the results of their daily practice. Temporary parking is available, but the use of public transportation is recommended due to limited spaces. On the day of the festival, traffic restrictions will be in effect accompanying the dashi and mikoshi parades. The event will be cancelled in case of stormy weather, and cancellation notices will be announced on Takasaki City's official SNS accounts.
