About this event
An exhibition focusing on Mt. Fuji as depicted by Katsushika Hokusai and Utagawa Hiroshige, two masters of the ukiyo-e world. Hokusai is known for his dynamic depictions, while Hiroshige pursued realism in landscape prints with gentle brushwork. Despite an age difference of 37 years, the exhibition centers on the Mt. Fuji series of these two artists who garnered attention as rivals, highlighting their distinct individualities by comparing differences in expression methods and their mutual influence. In addition to exhibiting all prints of Hokusai's masterpiece 'Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji' for the first time in about four years, all prints from Hiroshige's 'Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji' series and his 'Thirty-Six Views of Fuji' series will also be on display. This is a rare opportunity to experience the artistic worlds that both masters pursued.
