About this event
Held around Asakusa Kaminarimon Gate and Namiki-dori Street on Saturday, September 5, 2026, "Kaminarimon Bon Odori ~Dream Lanterns~" is a summer tradition that anyone can easily participate in. On the day, Bon Odori dancing will be held in three 30-minute sessions from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM. To prevent crowding and heatstroke, participants are encouraged to share space considerately. A total of 7 songs are scheduled for the Bon Odori dance, including "Tokyo Ondo," "Tanko Bushi," and "Taito Ondo," and practice videos are also publicly available. In addition, starting from the previous day, Friday, September 4, the venue will be decorated with fantastical "E-doro" (painted lanterns) delivered from Yuzawa City, Akita Prefecture. On Saturday, September 5, there will be plenty of content to enjoy besides Bon dancing, including a performance by the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force 1st Division 1st Band (scheduled from 4:20 PM to 4:40 PM), an exhibition of SDF vehicles, PR booths from the police and fire departments, PR booths from Yuzawa City and Nikaho City in Akita Prefecture, and food and beverage sales booths. The event will proceed in the rain, but will be canceled in severe weather.
