About this event
Held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, under the theme "Otsu, the City of Literature" at Otsu City Nagisa Park Festival Plaza and Scenery Green Space, "Koto no Ha Marche 2026" is an outdoor event centered around a literature flea market where visitors can enjoy diverse literary content. Following last year's attendance of over 3,500 people, the event will be held on an expanded scale. The venue will feature a literature flea market by approximately 150 to 200 vendor booths gathered from inside and outside the city, showcasing unique works not found in bookstores. A newly established "Student Literary Arts Showcase Corner" will introduce literary magazines and club publications created by university students from Kyoto and Shiga. In addition, a special talk show by Mina Miyajima, author known for the "Naruse Akari" novel series set in Otsu, and an exhibition match of competitive karuta are scheduled. A second-hand book fair, a mobile library, and a reuse book giveaway of approximately 3,000 volumes will also be held, allowing visitors to spend pleasant time through books. In the food area, themed "Fermentation and Spices: Aromas and Cycles," visitors can enjoy eating around over 30 stalls, including food culture experiences inspired by classical literature. Furthermore, hands-on workshops enjoyable for both children and adults are available, such as ZINE making, reading relays, and word art experiences. This is an ideal day to fully enjoy the charm of literature, perfect for literature fans as well as family holiday outings.
