Japanese name:東山観月路【高台寺】

📅 Sat, Jul 11, 2026 - Sun, Aug 23, 2026

📍 Kyoto, Kyoto

About this event

Kodai-ji Temple was founded by Kita no Mandokoro Nene to pray for the repose of Toyotomi Hideyoshi's soul. While a summer nighttime special viewing is customarily held in commemoration of Hideyoshi's death anniversary, this year's event is "Higashiyama Kangetsuro." In addition to the temple grounds such as the Kaizando (Important Cultural Property) and gardens, lighting displays are also featured along the Daidokoro-zaka approach in front of the gate and Nene-no-Michi lane. Enjoy a scaled-up, magical evening moment. Nighttime viewing at Kodai-ji differs from regular hours; entry is located at "Daidokoro-zaka Shita" and a special admission fee applies.
