A "Rooftop Summer Festival" will be held on the rooftop of Kyoto Takashimaya S.C. (Department Store) where visitors can experience traditional Japanese summer customs. It is an event where family and friends can casually enjoy traditional Japanese summer festival culture, including Bon Odori, Japanese drum (taiko) performances, festival stalls, and street food. Visitors in yukata are also welcome, providing 2 days to create memories at the end of summer vacation in the city center. Highlights of the event include Bon Odori dancing that anyone can freely join, allowing even first-timers to feel the unique sense of unity of a Japanese summer festival. In addition, on Sunday the 23rd, an all-female Japanese taiko drum group "Matsurikko" will deliver a powerful stage performance. Furthermore, diverse stage entertainment enjoyable for children to adults is scheduled, including kids' dance, cheer dance, Yosakoi, and DJ stages by Kansai-based performers. Traditional festival games like target shooting, ring toss, and yo-yo scooping, along with classic festival street food like shaved ice, yakisoba, and fried chicken, are plentiful. A yukata readjustment service is also provided at the venue, allowing those wearing yukata to enjoy the event all day with peace of mind. Exclusive to Takashimaya App members, elementary school children and younger will receive a cotton candy voucher (first 300 guests each day).
