The 'Hachiman-sama Autumn Festival' will be held from September 14 to 19, 2026, at Kaminoyama Hachimangu Shrine in Minamisanriku Town, Miyagi Prefecture. During the Yoimiya festival on September 14, from 18:10 to 20:00, Yoru-Kagura (night sacred dance) will be dedicated by the Motoyoshi Hoin Kagura Troupe. The sound of kagura flutes and drums heard while walking up the approach to the shrine offers a special, deeply resonant experience. Experiencing traditional performing arts unfolding within the mystical atmosphere of a nighttime shrine provides a precious opportunity to feel the depth of Japanese culture. On September 19, a portable shrine procession (mikoshi togyo) and children's procession (chigo gyoretsu) will take place starting at 11:00. The sight of adorable costumed children parading from Nakabashi Bridge through the Minamisanriku Earthquake Memorial Park to the Minamisanriku Sun Sun Shopping Village warms the hearts of all onlookers. Through the mystical beauty of traditional night kagura and the heartwarming sight of the lovely children's procession, this festival is a special event where parents and children can experience the wonder of Japanese culture together. With the soul-stirring melodies of night kagura and the bright, festive atmosphere of the children's parade, families can create unforgettable autumn memories.
