About this event

Held in the Bunka area of Sumida Ward, the "Summer Festival in a University Town 2026" is a summer celebration created jointly by the local community and students, centered around the Campus Common between Chiba University and iU. Numerous festival food stalls and food trucks will be present, offering delicious food such as yakisoba, shaved ice, and candied sweet potatoes (daigaku imo). In addition, local eateries will open stalls, featuring Chiba University craft beer and Chiba University Kampo cafe. Furthermore, there are plenty of unique programs including student workshops, rakugo (impersonation experiences and rakugo storytelling shows), Asobi University, space electric experiments, outdoor movie screenings, and Green Slow Mobility ride experiences. On stage, a variety of performances will liven up the venue, including manzai comedy by Yoshimoto comedians, dance showcases, jazz performances, and Japanese taiko drumming. It is an event packed with the unique charm of a "university town" that can only be experienced here, enjoyable for families and friends alike.
